Not everyone dreams of sitting with their legs dangling in a swimming pool during 30-degree weather in the middle of Turkey. People don’t always want to lounge around in all-inclusive resorts; sometimes people dream of cold cities where you’re not sitting down for hours on end, they imagine trekking the deserts of Africa with only a backpack, we would rather be dangling our legs into the waterfalls of Asian caves than anything else.
Travelling is something that becomes a part of you and when you’re not doing it, something just doesn’t feel right. I could have £50 in my bank but if I can find a way I will go somewhere and indulge in the culture; it’s an addiction. There’s something about going somewhere new and totally loosing yourself that makes me crave more. I’ve learned to love every place I’ve been, from the alleyways of Warsaw to the top of the Empire State Building. Something I can never understand is when people don’t have the drive I do to travel, don’t get me wrong I love laying around in the sun but it gets boring. Life is made for exploring and adventuring, you’re got to go to the strangest of places and get weird looks when you tell people where you’ve been. You’ve got to go to countries people wouldn’t ever think about visiting, not only because they’re often the best places but because you’re much better than settling for anything other than that.
Living is something I couldn’t imagine to do without travelling, it’s something that allows me to grow and gives me experiences that change my attitude towards things. No, it’s not always easy to get the money together but I find a way. Daily I get questions of how I afford to go to such wonderfully strange places and the truth is, I have no idea. I just love doing it and therefore I always have the time and money for it. If I have to go without certain things for a while so that I can travel then I without a doubt will – because travelling is not only a big part of my life but a part of me. It gives me hope that life is amazing in such interesting and unique ways, it reminds me that no matter how bad things seem they are, there is always hope. Travelling is a lifestyle that a lot of people think about pursuing but never have the confidence, it’s something that you shouldn’t hesitate about – if you want to do it, just do it.
Learn to live your life in the moment, forget about those hot holidays and grab your backpack, go trekking around the world – see as much of it as humanly possible because at the end of the day you only have one life to live you might as well make the most of it.
